I Tried TikTok Famous Brand Truly Beauty—Here Are My Honest Thoughts

My Skin

Ever since I’ve moved from New York City to Los Angeles, I’ve been more focused on making sure my chest and butt look good year around, as it’s almost always shorts and tank top season. I think I’ve done a good job so far, with my skin being overall hydrated, healthy, and smooth. However, I’ve had a few sunburns that have set me back, so using a specific product to target those areas felt like some much needed TLC. We often forget to take care of our décolletage, but this is one of the areas that shows aging first, as the skin is thinner than other parts of the body, making it more prone to dark spots and wrinkles. Plus, with many wedding invites coming in, I want to look and feel amazing in all the strapless bridesmaid dresses I’ll soon be wearing.

Packaging

The packing and overall aesthetic of the products is one of the highest selling points. You gotta love the cheeky names like Buns of Glowry, Acai Your Boobies, Nice Melons. All the scrubs and butters are a swirled concoction of different candy-colored shades. Even the bubblegum pink and lilac serums have sparkles. The glass jars and bottles may not be the most travel-friendly, but they sure make your bathroom look prettier.

Scent

Just as each formulation is a blend of different bright colors, they all have their own unique sweet scents, too. Nice Melons literally smells like cake frosting, while Berry Cheeky reminds me of cotton candy. The added fragrance is a nice touch, yet I find it a bit overwhelming and not entirely practical. I don’t want to smell like candy at my office, so these aren’t products I can just slather on before heading out the door in the morning. And if I layer both a serum and body butter, I get a bit of a headache. Some people may not find the fragrance to be an issue and there are times when you want to be enveloped in a scent. But if you’re sensitive to fragrances like me, this might be a dealbreaker for you.

Ingredients

While Truly Beauty puts a lot of thought into the fragrance and look of its products, it doesn’t skimp on the ingredients, either. The body butters offer a ton of moisturizing emollients, like shea butter, jojoba oil, and coconut oil. They also pack in key antioxidants like vitamin E and retinol. Retinol can often be irritating, but I haven’t had any issues when using these body butters and serums. All the products are vegan and contain many organic ingredients. When you consider all the powerful ingredients you get in one jar or bottle, the higher price tag of these products starts to pay off.

Feel

I personally prefer the serums (Acai Your Boobies and Buns of Glowry) over the butters for everyday use—they absorb faster and leave less of a scent. The whipped butters are extremely rich, which is great for a spa day, but a little inconvenient when you are scrambling to get dressed and don’t want to leave greasy stains. Both types of products give your skin a nice sheen, so layer them on if you want to sparkle before some wedding or honeymoon photos.

Results

All these products promise to make your boobs and booty more hydrated, plump, and firm. They certainly deliver in the moisturizing department, but do they actually achieve the other claims? It’s hard to tell in just a month, but I did find that my skin looks firmer and plumper since it’s is more moisturized.

So are the $30+ bottles and jars worth it? If you want to take your self care routine to the next level, perhaps to get ready for your wedding, the Truly line is a fun way to start. Using the sweetly-scented and colorful products just makes any shower or bath feel more luxurious. The line is great to prep your skin for poolside selfies, special events, and sexy honeymoon lingerie. The jars also make a great gift for your bridesmaids or anyone you want to treat this holiday season.

However, for your everyday skincare routine, I didn’t fine this line of butters and serums practical or necessary. Yes, they made my skin soft and hydrated, but I already had smooth skin from using cheaper and easier to use lotions and scrubs. They may not have fancy names or colors, but they got the job done.
