In 2011, after six months of dating, NBA player Kris Humphries opted for an intimate, at-home affair to propose to Kim, spelling out “Will You Marry Me?” in rose petals in the bedroom of her Beverly Hills home. The lowkey proposal was followed by an over-the-top celebration that set the newlyweds off on a 72-day relationship before they called it quits.
The SKIMS creator’s Lorraine Schwartz ring from Kris featured a 16-carat center rock with two 1.8-carat diamonds flanking the sides. At the time, the ring was estimated to be worth around $2 million, but it was later reported that the athlete auctioned it off at Christie’s in New York for nearly $750,000 after their divorce. The marriage was Humphries’ first and Kardashian’s second, following a brief union with ex Damon Thomas, long before Keeping Up With The Kardashians ever aired.
