The 29 Best Diamond Bands for Any Style

by Staff

When it comes to engagement rings, it’s hard not to imagine a pretty diamond nestled on a gorgeous band, right? There’s similarly a misconception that when you’re on the receiving end of such an engagement ring, the bigger the better. Well, that’s simply not the case for every woman. Shocker! Instead of a flashy sparkler, some women would prefer an elegant band. And while certainly more understated than a beautifully set diamond or gemstone, some are just as if not blingier than their traditional engagement ring counterparts. Eternity baguettes, anyone? More on this later.

Whether you’re one for subtlety, subscribe to a minimal style aesthetic, simply don’t have the budget for a conventional diamond ring, or you straight up don’t like bling, there’s more than enough reason to not want the expected diamond ring that most people envision. Considered more monetarily modest, diamond bands can range greatly in price. Some of the top selling diamond eternity bands can span anywhere from “$8,000 to $15,000,” says Roxanna Rector.

If you do still want a “normal” engagement ring, a band is the perfect backup. Wear it on occasions when you choose to forego your bigger bauble.

Obviously, we’re hardly ones to argue the appeal of a large diamond ring. However, if a band is more up your alley, you have a multitude of gorgeous styles to choose from. For those who still want diamonds, offerings range from dainty to extravagant. Think: Thin bands sprinkled with tiny diamonds to timeless pavé eternity bands to incredibly brilliant and stunning baguettes in an eternity settling (talk about wowza). Then there’s the most restrained route: A simple gold or silver band modestly unadorned. Demure, yet lovely. There’s also the alternative of going unconventional. Perhaps a contemporary two-tone band with wavy diamond pavé? Or, what about a fluid tiara shape with a series of multi-shaped diamonds in various sizes? Super dynamic.

The most important thing to realize is that wedding bands are just as stunning as a traditional engagement ring. It’s merely a style preference, not a compromise. Qualms about sacrificing style or beauty needn’t exist because you’re foregoing a bigger stone.

If you think a band is right for you, ahead, we culled an edit of 29 rings guaranteed to suit every style and budget. Get inspired.

What to Look for When Choosing a Diamond Band

In this case, it’s all about the band. With a variety of different looks to choose from, there’s a band for every bride’s personal style. “Consider the width and style you’re looking for. If you want a modern and thin look, go for micro pavé. If you want a lot of sparkle and impact, consider side stones of 1/4 to 1 carat total weight,” recommends Rector (our favorite is the Mark Broumand 6.30ct Emerald Cut Diamond Eternity Band in 18k Rose Gold).

Due to the minimalistic nature of diamond band engagement rings, it truly gives the cut of the stone the opportunity to take center stage. “There are so many possibilities when choosing the diamond cut for an eternity band,” says Nicole Wegman. “Some of the most classic options are emeralds and ovals.”

Begin by considering your own personal preferences, as your ring should be a reflection of yourself. “I like to start by asking: do you envision something extravagant or are you picturing yourself with more of a subtle look? If dramatic, do you envision your diamond band more of a curvature, round or oval diamonds, or diamonds with more of an edge, emerald, asscher, or emerald cuts?,” Hung says (for a ring that stands out, we suggest the Jane Taylor Cirque Meeting Arrows Ring with White Topaz).

“French pavé is one of our favorite settings for classic diamond band engagement rings. It is cut to show off the sparkle of your side stones from all angles,” Rector explains.

  • The price of eternity bands can accommodate couples on a budget or be as extravagant as an engagement ring with a large center stone. “It ranges based on the carat size of each diamond,” says Wegman.

  • “Especially if worn daily, jewelry should be cleaned regularly to remove dirt and other buildup that can not only dull the sparkle of your diamonds but actually damage them. Diamond bands should be cleaned with a proper jewelry cleaner,” Wegman states.

  • “Diamond band engagement rings have been a new trend we’ve been seeing amongst brides this past year,” Hung says. However, diamond bands are not only easy to wear, but they’re incredibly classic.
